Classical Revolution is an international grassroots chamber music movement founded in 2006 at the Revolution Café in San Francisco by violist Charith Premawardhana. Operating under the tagline “chamber music for the people,” the organization seeks to make high-quality classical music accessible, informal, and welcoming by presenting performances in non-traditional venues such as cafés, bars, and public gathering spaces. By 2013, Classical Revolution had expanded to an estimated 38 chapters worldwide and received recognition from major media outlets including The New York Times, The Economist, and the San Francisco Chronicle.
